Expedited Permitting Review

The City of San Jose has several programs that will help qualified businesses save time and money by assisting with the permitting process. These programs bring together a dedicated team of city staff to streamline and expedite the entire development process (i.e. planning, permitting, inspection) as quickly as possible. Expedited reviews are offered for:

  • Office, R&D or Manufacturing projects via the Special Tenant Improvement (STI) and Industrial Tool Installation (ITI) programs.
  • Retail establishments by a dedicated team of development services staff.
  • Small businesses with 35 employees or less through the Small Business Ambassador program.

Financial / Tax Incentives

The City of San Jose offers a competitive package of financial and tax incentives to help attract and retain companies.

  • Enterprise Zone - companies located in a 12 square-mile area in the heart of the city, qualify for a wide range of special tax credits, exemptions and deductions that can significantly reduce business-operating costs. Learn more.
